We like to call it the Voron Vaccine!
Our conveniente Linear Rail Carriage Lubrication Kit Mobil Mobilux EP2 Grease is specifically recomended to lubricate the linear rails.
Mobilux EP 2 is a high performance, general-purpose industrial-type grease. It is NLGI Grade 2 and presents a viscosity of ISO VG 150. The recommended operating temperature range is from -20ºC to 130ºC.
Included:
- 10ml Luer Lock Syringe filled with Mobil Ep2 Grease (that is plenty enough for 2 printers)
- Blue end cap to protect during the shipping and for easy storage
- 18 Gauge elbow blunt needle tip
- 16 Gauge straight blunt needle tip
- 14 Gauge straight blunt needle tip
How to proceed?
Wear gloves. Prepare some zip ties, paper towel, large recipient, IPA and bicycle disck/break degreaser (not spray but liquid).
We recommend to NEVER remove the carriages from the rails! The small balls inside each carriage are calibrated to that specific rail do not remove the carriage. Don’t open the carriage. Don’t remove the small bearing balls. Don’t mix them! Leave the carriages alone!
Zip tie the carriages to the linear rail fixing mouting holes to block them from moving. Scrub the rails and carriages with break cleaner degreaser and a tooth brush. After that soak them in IPA in a large recipiente for 15 minutes (the rails and carriage must be fully submerged). All the dust and small debries must come off and deposit on the bottom of the recipient. Dry them with paper towell and let them seat for a couple minutes in a flat surface with paper powel so gravity can make it’s job and extract the rest of IPA. Dry them with more paper towel.
Immediatly lubricate the carriages with this syringe.
If you have carriages with lubrication duct channels, as picture:
Just insert our syringe with the correct size blunt needle tips in the middle lubricant channel and place some grease. Check movement. Repeat if necessary. Remember less is more. Remove the zip ties now. Clean the excess of lubricant with paper towel.
If you have cheap linear rails choose a mounting hole in the linear rail that is aligned with the cart and force your lubricant through it. As picture:
Eventually you will see lubricant oozing through the sides of the cart past the bearings – this means you have filled the inside of the cart with enough lubricant. Check movement. Repeat if necessary. Remember less is more. Remove the zip ties now. Clean the excess of lubricant with paper towel.
If you are just relubricanting the carriages clean the rails with IPA and place our elbow blunt tip in the syringe and dap a bit of lubricant in the linear rail groove. Move the carriage along the rail. Check movement. Repeat if necessary.
Please wear gloves all the time.
When replacing another grease with Mobilux EP 2 the previous grease should be completely cleaned or flushed from the system.
For continuous service at temperatures above 95ºC, proper purging and relubrication frequencies are critical for maintenance of correct bearing protection.
Small air bubbles might be visible due to the manual filling process.
Traces of the product can stick to the outside of the syringe.
